Relive Juneau’s gold rush history and pan for gold in the authentic setting of Gold Creek. A costumed prospector
will guide you through a historic residential area enroute to Last Chance Basin.

You will trace the route taken by Joe Juneau and Richard Harris in their search for gold over 100 years ago. Near the famous Alaska-Juneau gold mine, at its peak one of the world’s largest hard rock mining operations, you will get hands-on experience panning for gold in Gold Creek. “Guaranteed gold!“ Our prospector then recaptures the history of Juneau’s gold discovery and hard rock mining as you view the remnants of the mine.

TOUR INCLUDES: Escorted tour by prospector/guide from the dock or downtown hotel; transfer to Gold Creek; gold panning lessons; narration on the gold discovery of Juneau and hard rock mining; observation of Alaska-Juneau mine site; take home the gold you pan and receive a souvenir gold claim deed; return transfer to the dock or hotel.

Walk approximately 30 yards over uneven terrain to the edge of Gold Creek. Taller half-barrels are provided for the comfort of those unable to bend over beside the creek. Suitable for all ages and no prior experience necessary, just good health and an adventurous spirit. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
